War Bonds
War bonds are government-issued debt securities used to finance military operations during wartime. They are loans from citizens to their government, with the promise of repayment plus interest at a later date.
Here's how they generally work:
Debt instruments: War bonds are debt instruments, representing a loan to the government.
Funding the war: The government uses the money from bond sales for military expenses, such as weapons, equipment, and supplies.
Below-market rates: Historically, war bonds have often offered a rate of return lower than prevailing market rates.
Patriotic appeal: Governments encourage citizens to buy war bonds by appealing to their patriotism and duty to support the war effort.
Discounted price and maturity: War bonds are usually sold at a discounted price below their face value. They mature to face value (plus interest) after a certain period, such as 10 to 30 year
Comstock Civil War Re-Enactors have their own (mostly) historically accurate War Bonds. We will print your copy and send it to you in the mail. Your donation includes shipping. These bonds have no cash value, however the do help our group educate today’s youth about what happened, on both sides, of the Civil War.
Each bond is serialized, signed, and embossed, with exception of the $10 and $20. The $10 and $20 bonds are only embossed due to no signature line.
All of our war bonds are for sale under the services tab. You can see what is available to purchase, below.
